Savio Publications has been a dream gradually built, piece by piece, by a dedicated group of four individuals, led by Late Mr. V. J. Jacob. It officially became an establishment in 2002. The company stands out as a pioneer in several respects — it is the first independent Catholic publishing house in the country and the first publisher to focus primarily on Moral Science.
The company’s inaugural publication was “Living by Values”, authored by Rev. Fr. M. C. Geroge, a writer widely recognized and respected across India. With this book, we laid the foundation for a new approach to Moral Science — moving away from vague, generalized content toward addressing essential moral topics with clarity and precision. Savio is also notable for being the first of its kind to formally accredit its authors, acknowledging their contribution in shaping moral education.
We strive to Capture the Power of Education
OUR VISION AND MISSION:
Savio is driven by a single mission: to make education accessible to everyone. To help realize this vision, we have priced our books in a way that is affordable and fair for all. We believe in the principle that less is more — offering high-quality textbooks at the most reasonable prices.
OUR NAME:
Our founder, Late Mr. V. J. Jacob, has been associated with the Salesian Family of Don Bosco since the age of 17. Immersed in the fellowship of the Salesian Family, he drew deep inspiration from the life and teachings of St. John Bosco and many other saints within the Salesian family. Among them, St. Dominic Savio held a special place in shaping his vision and work.
St. Dominic Savio was an Italian adolescent and a student of St. John Bosco. He was preparing for the priesthood when he fell ill and passed away at the tender age of 14. Despite his short life, he became the only person in his age group to be declared a saint — not for martyrdom, but for the exceptional holiness of his daily life. His canonization recognized a profound spiritual maturity far beyond his years.
St. Dominic Savio continues to be a model and an inspiration — especially for children. The clear mission behind founding this establishment was to reach out meaningfully to children, to help guide and inspire them. With that intent, it became evident that no name would be more fitting than “Savio” itself.
