The Company is the first of its kind in many ways. Its the first independent Catholic Publishing House. Savio is the first publisher with moral Science as its leading content.
The first book was “Living by Values;” authored by Fr. M.C. George, who is accepted and acknowledged–All over India. We laid the foundation for moral science texts to give up vagueness and to address and write about important matters in a precise to the point way. Savio is the first of its kind and gives the accreditation to the author.
Our Name
Our fonder, Lt. Mr. V.J. Jacob, was associated with the Salesian Family of Don Bosco since the age of 17. Being a part of such a wonderful and huge family, the life and teachings of St. John Bosco and many other saints within the Salesian Family often inspired his works and expeditions. St. Dominic Savio was one such inspiration.
Dominic Savio was an Italian adolescent student of Saint John Bosco. He as studying to be a priest when he became ill and died at the age of 14. Despite the fact he died too young, he is the only person in his age group who was declared a saint not on the basis of having been a martyr, but was considered eligible for such singular hono
ur on the basis of having lived what was seen as a holy life.
St. Dominic Savio is an example for all and an inspiration especially for children. The clear motive of creating this establishment was to reach out to children and it was thus decided that nothing else but the name ‘Savio’ itself will suit us the best.
